As many of us are painfully aware, power and weight are at constant odds. Too often, the battle is won by sheer weight, as energy succumbs to obesity. The same goes for the cars we drive. Machine mimics man. As the car industry grows older, cars get heavier. They also gain power, and most of that added power is used to drag the added heft around. Exhaust escalation usually goes hand in hand with the extra expended energy.
California-based Paul Williamsen is chief of training at Lexus. He also received fame as the author of “BMW Fuel Injection: The Enlightened Approach,” a self-published underground bestseller describing the taming of the bedeviled K-Jetronic, a mechanical fuel injection system that beset many European cars in the final decades of the last century, a curse as complex and mysterious as a WWII Enigma machine. Today, Paul shared with his friends a fascinating chart.

It’s certainly an F SPORT Friday as Lexus announces some exciting news. Lexus officially confirms an F SPORT model for the 2015 Lexus RC and the RC F “Racing Concept” will officially debut next week at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. It’s apparent that Lexus is kicking off 2014 with a bang by offering a wide range of RC luxury coupé models including a legit race-ready RC F racing concept. The debut takes place in Geneva on Tuesday, March 4 at 8:45 a.m. CET.
The F SPORT model is a sport oriented model which features attributes from the LFA super car. F SPORT is an important link between the luxury appointed RC and the flagship RC F which recently debuted last month in Detroit. Like the IS and GS, the RC F SPORT will feature an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system with rear steering. An F SPORT mesh grille will compliment the signature spindle grille unlike the Ultrasonic Blue RC spotted with a aterfall grille a few weeks ago. A very handsome set of 19″ mesh wheels will be offered exclusively on the F SPORT package.
The RC F SPORT will also feature an exclusive Ultra White (083) exterior also called White Nova Glass Flake in other regions. A blue (most likely Ultrasonic Blue – 8U1) and an orang will also be available as options for the F SPORT colors palette. Lexus USA has named Rioja Red as an interior choice which may signify NuLuxe interior surfaces like the 2014 IS. It’s unclear if we will get leather seating as an option for RC F SPORT but other global markets will get a Dark Rose interior which may signify leather. The powertrain of choice will be a the trusty 2GR-FSE 3.5L V6 mated to an Aisin AA81E 8 speed auto transmission which was first featured in the 2014 IS 350. More details on the latest RC addition should surface after next week’s Geneva debut.
