Lexus NX Leaked By Accident

Lexus LF NX Leak 2

Did Jim Lentz spill the beans on accident or did the graphics artist inadvertently make a mistake? Autoblog has discovered an accidental leak during a recording of the SAA Auto Outlook Conference on Youtube. This conference was held at Cobo Center just a day before the opening of the NAIAS press days. Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota Motor North America was a featured speaker and talked about future products that would be revealed in the coming days of the show. Instead of showing the LF-NX concept which initially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, what appears to be a production ready NX was displayed instead.

Accidental leaked image of the Lexus NX. It resembles the current generation RX but with a larger more angular spindle grille like the upcoming RC coupe. The headlamps and LED DRL’s are separated just like the IS and RC.

As you can see, this is the LF-NX is what should have been depicted in the presentation slide. This is a bold representation of a future crossover utility vehicle that is slated to fit below the best-selling RX.

This is the 3rd generation RX after its mid cycle refresh in 2013. This is the first use of the spindle grille on this RX. Comparing this to the leaked NX photo, you can see where the NX has borrowed its styling, especially in the edges of the front fascia. Note the “L” shaped cuts in the bumper where the fog lamps sit.
An early Mag X Rendering of the Lexus NX. Early rumors have said this NX will be a Lexus version of the new body style RAV4.

Doing a little research on SAA’s website reveals the actual schedule of speakers during the Jan 12 conference. There are pdf copies of the three speakers except for Jim’s. A copy of his presentation is absent but with “Coming Soon” printed next to his name. So it makes you wonder, was this leak accidental or was it secretly intentional? Whatever it is, it has people talking…and so far it looks pretty good. This new baby RX should be a great hit in the small luxury cross over utility market. We discovered the trademark registrations of NX 200t & NX 300h over a year ago. Let’s hope there’s room for a performance spec NX F to go after the likes of the Audi QS3 and the Mercedes Benz GLK45 AMG.
