Hino Trucks, a subsidiary of Toyota, celebrates a milestone with Penske Truck Leasing (PTL) by delivering the 10,000th Hino at their Williamstown, West Virginia Plant. The 10,000th truck is a new medium duty 2015 Hino Class 6, 268A (A for air brake model) will be an addition to Penske’s large commercial rental fleet. PTL took their first order of a Hino 268 a decade ago. Chairman of Penske Truck Leasing (PTL), Roger Penske took delivery of the keys during a ceremony at the plant with several Hino execs and team members present.
This isn’t the first time Penske has utilized Toyota products in their fleet. Back in the early 90’s, Penske Truck Rental utilized a 3VZ-E 3.0L V6 powered 1-Ton HiLux Cab Chassis dually with a cargo box as their entry level offering. Penske and Toyota has had a long-standing relationship including ownership of the largest Toyota dealership in the world, Longo Toyota. Penske-owned Longo Lexus was also one of the original Lexus dealers to open in 1989. For a short time Toyota even supplied V8 IndyCar race engines to Team Penske. Penske Truck Leasing is just a small part of the Penske empire, started by former race car driver, race team owner and successful businessman, Roger Penske. Congrats to Hino & Mr. Penske for this historic milestone!
