Now, it’s Subaru’s turn to survey potential BRZ owners

Back in October 2011 we featured a story on Scion’s microsurvey asking for transmission and exterior color preferences for its upcoming FR-S sports coupe. Now it’s Subaru’s turn to ask the car enthusiast community about their ideal configuration for the FR-S’s fraternal-verging-on-identical twin, the BRZ. The obligatory transmission and exterior color questions are there, of course (with Subaru actually asking for first, second and third choices in exterior colors), but this survey is a bit more extensive and detailed.

We knew that Subaru would be offering two trim levels, versus Scion’s probable mono-spec strategy, but we learn that Subaru’s “base” Premium model will include 17″ wheels with summer performance tires, limited-slip differential, HID headlights and 8-speaker audio and GPS navigation system with Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, HD Radio with iTunes taging capability, and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio with NavTraffic. The fancier Limited model, for $2000-$2500 extra, adds leather/Alcantara upholstery, Keyless Access and Start, automatic climate control (as opposed to the Premium’s air conditioning), heated front seats and side mirrors, fog lights and rear spoiler. Subaru, of course, wants to know which you’d prefer. (This no-frills author would be quite happy with a Premium, with fog lights being the only thing he’d really miss from the pricier Limited).

Once past the trio of equipment and color questions, a second page includes age, gender, income and state questions, plus a “when would you consider purchasing” question that suggests a probable U.S. on-sale date “around May 2012”.
