The members of Club Lexus, like other self-respecting Lexus fans, have been doing their share to track The Sexy Six, the first six Lexus LFAs to arrive on U.S. soil. A constantly-updated thread stickied atop CL‘s LFA Forum will keep a very useful running tab on the LFAs as they emerge from the Motomachi plant in Japan. After our reports on #026 in Chicago, #006 in Oklahoma City and #004 in Houston, Club Lexus members have tracked down two more LFAs.
A CL thread started by 05RollaXRS informs us that the silver #003 (probably this author’s favorite among the original U.S. six) was delivered at Gwinnett Lexus in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area, and was already seen out and about in Atlanta’s Caffeine and Octane car meet (the local take on Cars & Coffee, presumably), where it was photographed by Club Lexus member quick123.
Another CL thread started by 05RollaXRS informs us that the Pearl Gray #005 LFA was delivered at Germain Lexus in Naples, Florida, a scant hundred miles from this author’s Miami hometown. This, then, leaves only the black #009 as the only U.S. LFA among the original six with its whereabouts still unaccounted for.
Internationally, only two red LFAs have, to date, been accounted for: the super-significant #001 which has seemingly stayed in Japan (and, we’re guessing, will eventually reside in the Toyota Museum) and #014, which, as The Lexus Enthusiast informs us, was acquired by Javier Quirós, the president of Purdy Motor, the Toyota Group distributor for Costa Rica. Mr. Quirós is a hardcore auto enthusiast and an accomplished racecar driver who drove one of the LFA racing prototypes at 2009’s 4 Hours of the Nürburgring race (a shorter counterpart to the far longer and more famous 24 hour races held there) alongside Morizo (a.k.a. Toyota President and CEO Akio Toyoda). Surely he has enough clout with the factory for a lower production number, but Mr. Quirós specifically requested LFA #014 as a nod to the fact that his numerous race cars have all worn the number 14.
Thanks to Joe Z for the tip
