Lexus will be issuing a recall for 2010 model year LS equipped with Variable Gear Steering Ratio (VGRS). The variable steering system is commonly found on the LS460L RWD & AWD, LS460 AWD short wheel base only and the LS600hL. Toyota has stated:
“Toyota North America is aware that certain 2010 Lexus LS sedans equipped with optional Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) may exhibit a temporary steering wheel off-center condition, under a specific driving maneuver. Based on our discussions with TMC, preparations are being made to file a recall in the United States on Friday, May 21.”
Owners with 2010 LS with VGRS should not be alarmed. Lexus will be issuing a formal recall notice regarding this condition shortly. If it so happens that you are experiencing this condition on your 2010 LS, contact your local Lexus dealer as soon as possible. Here is the release posted today by TMS.
